New Museum Launch - Needs Help!
Tricia from the Telfair Museum in Savannah, GA writes:
"The Telfair Museum of Art is the oldest museum in the south and we are soon opening (Oct 2005) a new 64,000 sq ft building to house our 20th century and beyond collection. I guess what I am looking for is any suggestions you would have to get this building recognition outside of Savannah, GA. The internationally recognized architect is Moshe Safdie, and the building he designed is a piece of art in itself. It was also quite the controversy to get a new building built in the historic district of Savannah, GA and it almost was never a reality. But here we are with our new building on the verge of being finished, with in steps of one of our current buildings - the 1819 former Telfair home converted into an art museum in 1886, the Telfair Academy of Arts & Sciences. I would be happy to provide more details if interested, but I would appreciate any assistance or suggestions that you may have to help create a huge "buzz" for this building. "

Tricia,
I am on the artnews list serve run by Public Domain/Eyedrum in Atlanta. Why don't you send an announcement to artnews@pd.org ?
That list serve has several passionate architecture buffs on it. As long as no historically significant buildings were pulled down to build the new building!
Could you get the Atlanta Journal-Constitution interested in doing a comparison of some kind between the Telfair and the new Symphony building going up?
